Simplistic and manipulative phrases abound in war time, being the stock in trade of war propagandists. Two that come to mind are: Freedom isn't free and Support our troops. Both of these, translated from warspeak, mean "Shut up!" Freedom isn't free means don't say anything, just pay lipservice to dead government gunmen. The second means don't say anything, just pay lipservice to living (if they're lucky) government gunmen.
It is nice to hear someone back me up on this. That is, it is nice to know there are others fuggin' irritated by all the flag-waving, support our troops, shut up and believe crap that prevails. Thanks, Brad Edmonds!
